The Past

In 2004 Ciarán Doyle started his first accountancy and taxation business. The focus at the time was on helping small businesses and individuals manage their tax affairs and stay compliant with all their obligations to both the Revenue Commissioners and the CRO. The business has worked with hundreds, if not thousands of clients in various spheres of activity over the last 20 years, and it has been a privilege to work with so many great people and help to steer them in the right direction.

The Present

In recent years, and especially since Covid-19 pandemic, the business landscape has changed in both obvious and subtle ways. Businesses that have thrived for years now find themselves struggling to compete, with rising costs and an ever increasing burden of regulation have left it more and more difficult for businesses to adapt and survive.

It was at this time that I first studied Bitcoin seriously and came to the gradual realisation that we are on the cusp of a new era of sound money as more and more businesses and individuals see beyond the noise and learn what Bitcoin truly is, and how it can be used to safeguard their future in the digital age. 

In 2023, I began to offer clients the option of settling their invoices in either Euro or Bitcoin and in the summer of 2023, I was the first accountant in Ireland to receive a client fee payment in Bitcoin. Since then, an increasing number of clients have chosen to pay in Bitcoin.

The Future

With this in mind, I have decided to take a leap into the future. The former accounting and taxation business is no more, and as we move forward into 2025, my focus is exclusively on individuals operating in the Bitcoin and crypto space. 

I do not believe that Ireland is ready yet to support companies that want to make Bitcoin a store of value, but for individuals who have either capital gains of income form their activities in Bitcoin or crypto, ciarandoyle.ie together with our sister business Crypto Count will offer a dedicated tax compliance service to those in this space. We do not offer investment advice; we simply ensure that your compliance obligations are met. With each passing year, the scrutiny on those in the Bitcoin and crypto world will intensify, and if you need an accountant who understands you and what you are doing, look no further!
